Pre-conference seminar

Introducing honor and shame in the Bible for cross-cultural ministry

Werner Mischke of Mission ONE will lead a pre-conference seminar introducing honor and shame in the Bible and what it means for cross-cultural ministry. The seminar is on Wednesday, May 27 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Nashville Airport Marriott.

The seminar will be based on Werner’s book, THE GLOBAL GOSPEL: Achieving Missional Impact in Our Multicultural World.

Some of the topics to be covered include:

  • Why is honor and shame a strategic issue for world evangelization—across the street and around the world?
  • Why is shame more hurtful than guilt?
  • Why is honor and shame is the pivotal cultural value of the Bible?
  • Why does Western theology have a blind spot about honor/shame? Why does this matter? What can we do about it?
  • What are the nine dynamics of honor/shame in the Bible?
  • What is the motif of honor-status reversal in Scripture? How does this relate to the gospel?
  • How can honor/shame dynamics in the Bible make the gospel more resonant among Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu peoples—as well as the post-modern generation?

The additional cost is $25 (seminar attendees will receive copy of hardcover book, The Global Gospel, at no extra charge). When you register for the COSIM conference you can choose this option and the cost will be added to your total.

You may also register only for the honor/shame pre-conference if they so choose.
